**RING ON THE BACK**

 

One of the reasons the Extension harness was not designed with a ring on the back was to avoid pressure on the delicate neck. Pressure on the neck can cause neck injuries, damage to the cervical vertebrae, and harm to the throat. However, in many situations, it is still useful to have the leash attached behind the dog, such as during tracking or search work, cycling, jogging, swimming, etc. After much consideration, our designer finally found the solution: Tracking.

 

**THE LAWS OF PHYSICS**

 

When the dog moves forward, forces are created. When the dog owner stops the dog’s forward motion by pulling on a leash attached to the back of the harness, opposing forces are generated. Between these forces sits a harness that affects both the dog and the owner. When rings are placed directly on the back of a harness, the forces cause the harness to shift upwards toward the dog’s neck, creating uncomfortable pressure. We have avoided this with the Tracking system because it is attached both to the rings on the back and the belly strap.

 

**LOOP UNDER THE BELLY**

 

The Extension harness has a sewn loop on the belly strap. This is designed for attaching various accessories, such as the Tracking system.  

Attaching the Tracking system is easy, and it allows the Extension harness to maintain its function of not causing discomfort by applying pressure to the neck. Instructions on how to attach the Tracking to your Extension will be provided with your purchase.
